Treat Bag Made With Envelope

 

It is such a great day when I receive an envelope from my upline Jill Olsen.  As many of you know from previous posts, Jill sends us a card or project when we are in the top for her group the Creative Stampers in any month.  Last week I was one of those which is always exciting.  She sent me the above bag.  I love it because it gives me a reason to show something with a Halloween theme.  I have tried to have Halloween themed classes several times.  I never get the sign ups I do with other classes so I tend to dwell on the other classes.  This was a perfect way to show something I do not usually show.

The neat thing about this treat bag is that it is made from a medium crumb cake envelope.  How much easier than that?  Cut the top off and you have a bag.  A banner was made with Elegant Eggplant cardstock and Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper.  A strip was made with the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper to place horizontally across the bag.  A bat was cut out using the Halloween Scenes Edgelits TM Dies.  The Halloween Treat stamp was used for the greeting on the bag.  The Halloween Night Baker's Twine was used to tie the ribbon at the top of the greeting. 

For the photo I filled the bag with black licorice.  I would recommend not just placing licorice in like I did and wrapping it in a food safe bag.  If you do not like licorice there are so many other things you can fill the bag with.

Music Is In The Air Or In This Case A Card

When Julie Barron was getting ready to leave our Friday Friends group, I asked if I could take a photo of the above card.  She said "Sure, but it isn't finished yet."  I really loved what she did.  If any of you have gotten this paper (This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper) and know what the music is, make a comment. It may just be something random but I would love to know.  Even if it is not complete yet, it is still very nice and I can envision all sorts of things on this card from bows, an angel, a nativity scene or ornament tag.  So many possibilities.

Julie used the Merry sentiment from the Jar of Cheer.  Nice and bright as well as festive. To get the triangle of folds to place the sentiment, cut from right through horizontally left (if a left sentiment) and fold the top slit up.  Fold the paper at the bottom of the slit down.  Again this technique may be used for the left side as well.  This Designer Series Paper was then adhered to the card base where Julie stamped.  Such a nice way to get a nice card that looks advanced and is not really.  I hope you will try it and if you e-mail the photo of what you do, I may use it on a future blog post.  I love to share if the person doing the card is fine with that.

Super Easy Card

Today's card is a super simple card that looks great!  Again a card that Julie Barron made at Friday Friends.  She used This Christmas Specialty Design Series Paper and the Christmas Pines stamp set.  I do not have Julie's measurements for this card, but if you cut the Design Series Paper 2 1/2" by 4" it would make several cards with one sheet of paper.  You would cut a 12" by 12" sheet at the 8" and 4" on one side and then cut the strips at 2 1/2" which would get 12 pieces plus some extra out of one sheet.  Place the sheet to the left (or right) and stamp the other side like Julie did here.  Decorate with ribbon and the creation is complete.

Think of ways you can make this same card with different themes.  Just change the paper and sentiment.  You could actually get 144 cards made out of one package of Designer Series Paper.  Also some extra pieces for something else, but what a bargain for a card.  You can make 160 cards out of two packages of Very Vanilla or Whisper White cardstock.  A great inexpensive way to make cards if you have many to send.

Loving Those Mice!

I do not know about you, but I fell in love with the Merry Mice stamp set as soon as I saw it in the new Holiday Catalog.  You probably do not like mice in your house unless they are in a cage, because I do not.  I hope they stay outside this Christmas season.  But there is something to be said for a "cartoon like" artistic mouse with personality.  The above mouse has exactly that.  Certainly some personality going around!!!  If I actually saw a mouse like this in the house carrying a branch with an ornament, they could stay forever.  I would give it cheese and anything else it desired.  Just way too cute!

Julie Barron made the above card at Friday Friends and it is just so precious I had to show it.  She used the This Christmas Specialty paper along with the Merry Mice stamp set.  It looks great as it is.  If you are into the coloring books for adults, this is the perfect type of image to color.  Make several cards like Julie has made above and use a corner rounder to round off the corners.  Then stamp the image, let dry and color.  Fun times!

Scrapbook Pages Using This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper

The above page was made at Friday Friends by Trish Engle.  Trish has two super children and is finishing college so she has her hands full.  A night to create is something she needed and she certainly did that.  A tip for you is that if you are scrapbooking, remember that a scrapbook page is like an extra large card.  You follow the same rules to create.  The main thing though is to remember to have a place on your "card" for a photo.  The photo can be used like "card candy or the focal point" to a card.  When you remember that, making memory pages should come quickly and easily.  A piece of red pom pom trim was given to each recipient, but you could also use the white mini pom pom trim or a flat ribbon.  Also using a solid piece of cardstock can act as a ribbon when you are scrapbooking and it also will be flat in your book.  Such a lovely page Trish created using this wonderful Specialty Designer Series paper.

Above is another Trish creation.  I love how she worked the reindeer onto this page.  This reindeer is a "happy" deer and so seeing this creature among the photos can certainly bring cheer to a page.

Fun With Santa's Sleigh

Tammy continued her card making with the Santa's Sleigh stamp set.  For any items on her card not from the current catalog, know that again I had my basket of retired items out for my Friday Friends to select from.  I call it my "Kudzu Basket".  For those who do not know this, my husband calls my Stampin' Up!® products kudzu because (just like kudzu) they tend to take over various parts of the house.  Because he calls it that, I am always trying to get rid of those extra items I have laying around I intended to use and then did not.  My "Kudzu Basket" is where I throw those retired items for my friends to select from to use on their cards and take them to their appreciative homes.  It helps us all out and it is fun to see what they do with those items.  Tammy used some of hers on her cards and they looked so nice. 

The great thing about this stamp set is that it comes in our "beloved" bundle.  I say "beloved" because we all love a deal and putting the stamp set with the Thinlits Dies to help cut out our stamped images along with a better price definitely makes it beloved.  Below you can see Tammy's Friday Friends creations using the Santa's Sleigh.

I know that this is my second post today but I did not want to hesitate in letting you all know what is on clearance now.  When the items are gone, they are gone so do not hesitate if you want anything.  Get them while you can.

Father Christmas Meets This Christmas

I hope you love this Father Christmas as well as I do.  It is a great stamp to stand alone as is in one color or to color and make it colorful.  Either way, this Santa is just so adorable.  Tammy Colbert was a regular attendee to Friday Friends until she got a job.  Right now since she was not working she joined us again.  It was  so great having Tammy back with us.  She made the card above which I love because it is using this precious adorable man.  She used the This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper for the design background.  The cardstock pack that goes with this designer series paper was used with this card and you can see how rich the colors are.

Tammy used the Lots of Labels Framelits to get the key hole opening in the card.  A great use for these framelits.  The Father Christmas was stamped on solid cardstock and then cut it out with the framelit that is smaller in size than the other sheet of cardstock.  This Father Christmas would make a super Christmas Ornament.  Stamp him on a piece of cardstock, cut out and decorate the outside of the cardstock for a trimmed border, put a string on it and you are ready to hang on the tree.  Have fun with this set.  It is such a gorgeous set that reminds me of my Christmas days of old.

Cheerful Tags and Santa's Sleigh Card

Dixie is one of our regulars at Friday Friends and is also a demonstrator.  She also makes absolutely gorgeous jewelry on the side.  Such a talented lady.  Dixie made some tags using the Cheerful Tags Framelits.  She adjusted them with card stock so that they would cover the holes you place over a drink bottle.  That way they make nice tags.  She is going to add a ribbon to the top so they will be ready for any gift she has.  A very clever way to use this tag die.  She used the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set which really dressed it up.  You can see her tags shown below:

For the card below, Dixie used the Santa's Sleigh stamp set.  She took the wreath and cut it so that it would hang on the reindeer's neck.  She also used the Stamp set Christmas Pines for the sentiment of the card.  Dixie loves to use embossing powder for her sentiments.  She used the Emerald Envy embossing powder for this card.  Stunning in real life.  I am certainly blessed to have all the ladies I have come to Friday Friends.  A treasure trove of ideas and uses to use product always.
